Workers’ Compensation
Although a distinct practice
area, the Workers’ Compensation group of Wegman, Hessler &
Vanderburg is managed as part of our Labor and Employment
group. By maintaining a core staff of attorneys and staff
committed to the effective handling of Workers’ Compensation
matters, we are able to provide high quality and cost
effective Workers’ Compensation representation.
The firm’s attorneys regularly
handle Workers’ Compensation matters at all administrative
levels as well as before trial courts, and if necessary, at the
appellate level. The firm’s attorneys also advise and represent
clients on Workers’ Compensation reform, insurance related
concerns and overall administration of their Workers’
Compensation programs, including regulatory compliance, safety
and loss avoidance.
The Workers’ Compensation
group’s close cooperation with our Labor and Employment Group
provides our clients with a distinct advantage given the
substantial interplay between Workers’ Compensation claims and a
variety of employment regulations. For example, the termination
of an employee subsequent to a Workers’ Compensation claim may
result in a retaliatory discharge claim or other unwanted
consequences if the issues are not properly analyzed and
appropriate advice rendered.
The firm’s Workers’
Compensation clients are a diverse group. They represent a broad
geographical area and many sections of the economy, including
manufacturing, transportation, distribution, retail sales and
services.
