Peter A. Holdsworth

1975 – 2020

Pete Holdsworth passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly on April 5, 2020 while at home with his wife and three children. Pete served the clients of Wegman Hessler for over twelve and a half years and was a credit to the practice of law through his diligent advocacy and moral integrity. He understood his role as an attorney to be a vocation – a high calling – and he upheld and practiced the highest principles of the legal profession. Pete will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Pete Holdsworth’s Legal Legacy

He was a trial, appellate and regulatory lawyer.  For over 15 years, Pete represented product manufacturers and suppliers around the country in high-stakes cases involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death.  His practice focused on representing manufacturers, suppliers and retailers in product liability cases, particularly those involving outdoor power equipment, and cases involving fires and burns. Pete litigated cases involving international commercial disputes, Lanham Act violations and intellectual property rights, educator/student rights, medical malpractice, employment, and noncompetition agreements.  Pete advised clients before the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in connection with product recalls, including coordinating directly with CPSC on behalf of clients and providing guidance in preparing corrective action plans.  He assisted with product safety and risk management analysis. Pete served as national coordinating counsel for a large manufacturer where he supervised nationally the defense of cases involving a variety of products including lawnmowers, tractors, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws and other outdoor power equipment. Pete litigated cases across the United States and before the International Chamber of Commerce.  Committed to the legal profession, Pete was a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI). He was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

Our colleague and friend will be missed. The attorneys and staff at Wegman Hessler extend our deepest condolences to his family.
