Jay Carson Appointed by Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals To Represent Appellants

The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, which hears all federal appeals for the states of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee recently appointed Jay Carson to serve as counsel for indigent appellants in three matters involving constitutional claims.

Jay states, “It’s an honor to be selected by the Court to represent those who would otherwise be unable to assert their constitutional rights.  This work is important not just to the clients involved, but to ensure that our justice system operates fairly.  Because the Federal Circuit Court is the court directly below the U.S. Supreme Court, the decisions made there often have a significant national impact.”

The Court accepts these appeals and makes the appointments only in cases where the Court believes there may be a significant constitutional principle at stake.

Mr. Carson has been appointed by the Court in numerous cases throughout his career.  He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alice M. Batchelder and has been recognized as a Life Member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference.  Attorney Aaron Hessler will be assisting Mr. Carson in these representations.
